APPROACH

[RESEARCH | IDEATION | DESIGN | TESTING | ITERATION | REFLECT]

As a user experience product designer, my mission is to forge meaningful and intuitive digital connections between people and technology. I firmly believe that effective design should operate invisibly, empowering users to effortlessly achieve their objectives without being conscious of the design itself. Grounded in empathy, my approach involves understanding the users' needs and desires, using that knowledge to guide the design process.

Through a meticulous blend of research, prototyping, and iterative refinement, I aspire to create products that not only serve their functional purpose but also offer an enjoyable user experience. I advocate for a collaborative design process, recognizing the essential partnership between the designer and the user. It's the designer's duty to engage users throughout the design journey, incorporating feedback and making adjustments to craft products that are not just usable but also cherished by those who use them.

My ultimate goal is to develop products that positively impact people's lives—whether by enhancing productivity, enriching entertainment, or solving everyday challenges. I am passionate about crafting user experiences that are both aesthetically pleasing and imbued with meaning. Committed to continuous learning and improvement, I strive to evolve as a designer.

My design process commences with the simplicity of pen and paper. I initiate each project by jotting down and sketching initial ideas, seeking connections between visuals and the intended message. As the concept matures, the project transitions to the digital realm, where the final image takes shape. A series of revisions refine the design, completing the puzzle.

More about my design process below:

Design Process

The 6-step design process for user experience (UX) is: This process is often iterative, with designers continually refining their designs based on feedback and testing. The goal is to create a user-centered design that effectively solves the user's problem and provides a positive and enjoyable experience.

Research

Conduct thorough research on the target audience, their needs and pain points, and the competitive landscape to inform the design process.

Ideation

Generate ideas for potential solutions through brainstorming, sketching, and prototyping.

Design

Create detailed designs and wireframes that outline the user flow, layout, and interactions.

Testing

Conduct user testing to validate the designs and gather feedback on what works well and what needs improvement.

Iteration

Based on the feedback received, make necessary revisions and improvements to the design until it meets the user's needs and expectations.

Reflect

Evaluate what worked well and what could be improved, with the aim of identifying opportunities for growth in future projects.

About Josiah

[JOE-SIGH-UH]

Josiah is a Painter, Sculptor, Builder and Designer

I hail from Sacramento, California, where I was born and raised in a warm and supportive environment within a large, loving family. Upon graduating from high school, the path forward seemed uncertain, but one constant in my life has always been my passion for art.

In April 2005, I relocated to San Francisco to pursue my education at the Art Institute of California. Focused on Graphic Design, I successfully graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in May 2008. While staying immersed in design projects for diverse businesses, I realized the need to create for myself. This realization led to the establishment of several independent ventures, some of which you will see on this website. Alongside my full-time job, I enjoy taking on contracting endeavors, chasing my daughter around the park, and dedicating time to painting when I'm not engaged in learning Judo/Jiu-jitsu.
